Myriam (Hudicourt) Raber was born and raised in the
country of Haiti. She is the youngest of 11 children. Her late father Georges was an ear-eyes-nose doctor who trained in Chicago during World War II. Her mother
continues to volunteer as a family physician and pathologist in Haiti. Although her parents were highly trained professionals, the family had limited access to good dental
care. Myriam endured dental pain throughout a good portion of her childhood. Like many, she assumed that this was normal and that she would eventually lose her natural
teeth. At age 13, while spending a summer with cousins in Mexico, she was taken to a multitude of dental appointments. For the first time in her life, she was
pain-free and it was amazing! She decided soon after to become a dentist. She quite honestly knows the patient's perspective for nearly all the dental procedures her patients may encounter.
Myriam came to the USA to attend Goshen College in Indiana. This is where she met her husband Philip. She went on to Indiana University School of Dentistry where, in
1992, she graduated with High Honors. In 1993 she completed a General Practice Residency at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Indianapolis. In 1994 she finished
a Cerebral Palsy Fellowship at Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis. During that year she also taught pediatric courses at the Indiana University School of Dentistry.
In 1995, after spending a year in private practice in West Virginia, Dr. Raber and her family moved to the Christianville Mission in Gressier, Haiti, as full time eye and dental
missionaries. The dental clinic provided comprehensive care to over 1200 school children, as well as general adult care.
In 1998 after hundreds of hours of continuing education, Dr. Raber earned her
Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD) www.agd.org . In order to better serve her patients, she continues to take courses to further her knowledge and
skills. She is also a member of the American Dental Association www.ada.org . Interested in knowing more? See: www.agd.org/consumer/resources/FS_FAGD_MAGD.pdf
In 2001, the Raber family decided to leave Haiti and settle in Kidron so that their 4 children could attend Central Christian School. They are hoping that the breadth of their
combined experiences will be an asset to those in the community choosing to trust them with their care.
